Mongolia Extension: (July 8th to June 15th)
June 8th: Fly Beijing – Ulaan Baatar. (B/L/D)
Arrive at Genghis Khaan Airport and transfer to our hotel in Ulaan Baatar.
Lunch in the Silk Road restaurant. We will then visit the Chojin Lama Temple Museum. Evening on the town. Overnight in Hotel.
June 9th: Ulaan Baatar. (B/L/D)
Drive either to the Manjushir Monastery Museum, or else Teralj, depending on weather conditions. Both are among the most beautiful valleys in Central Mongolia and are located approximately an hour from town. Overnight in Hotel.
June 10: Ulaan Baatar - Old Man Monastery Valley. (B/L/D)
Drive to Old Man Monastery Valley, an hour east of Kharakoroum, the old Mongolian capital established by Genghis Khaan. Here we will stay in an ootes camp, the traditional “teepee” homes used by ancient Mongols in the northern forests. These are very comfortable with wooden floors, good beds and bedding etc. The camp has good communal toilets and bathrooms. Overnight in Ootes camp.
June 11: Old Man Monastery Valley – Kharakoroum. (B/L/D)
Continue on to Kharakoroum, the old Mongolian capital established by Genghis Khaan. Here we will stay in a comfortable gher camp, the round felt homes used by grasslands Mongols. Again they are clean and comfortable with a separate building having clean toilets and showers. Overnight in Gher camp.
June 12: Kharakoroum - Ikh Mongol. (B/L/D)
Morning visit to Erdene Zuu Museum, the remaining portion of the monastery established in the 16th century following the Third Dalai Lama’s work in teaching Buddhism in Mongolia. After lunch we will drive to Ikh Mongol, one of the four sacred mountains of Central Mongolia. The gher camp here is one of the best in the country. The Ikh Mongol is located on the fringe of the Gobi and offers an excellent introduction to the Gobi culture. Overnight in Gher camp.
June 13: Ikh Mongol. (B/L/D)
We will spend the day riding camels or horses (your choice) around Ikh Mongol Mountain. Those who prefer not to ride can walk or can spend the day exploring the beauties of the area. Overnight in Gher camp.
June 14: Ikh Mongol - Ulaan Baatar. (B/L/D)
Drive back to Ulaan Baatar. A night in the city.Overnight in Hotel.
June 15: Depart Ulaan Baatar. (B/-/-)
Depart Ulaan Baatar flight home.
Land cost - $995 per person
Beijing-Ulaan Baatar-Beijing airfare - $650 per person. Airfare subject to change Single Room Supplement - $320 per person
